College of the Canyons sophomore defensive end Leroy Mealancon Jr. will continue his career at the next level after committing to attend California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo/

Cal Poly SLO is an NCAA Division I football championship series (FCS) program.

Mealancon, who will transfer as a junior, was a two-year defensive starter for the Cougars.

In two seasons at COC he tallied 43 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 19 games with the Cougars.
