OXNARD — College of the Canyons saw all four scoring players finish in the top-eight of the individual standings as the Cougars remained undefeated in conference play, winning a fifth straight Western State Conference (WSC) event, at River Ridge Golf Course on Monday.
Canyons carded a four-player score of 292 to finish first in the team standings over runner-up Ventura College (299) and third place Glendale College (300). Santa Barbara City College (302) was just off the pace in fourth place.
Jacques Struyf and Kai Willen both finished at even par scores of 72 in a four-way tie for second in the individual player standings.
Gavin Loughran of Glendale was the event medalist with his two-under-par round of 70.
A few spots down the leaderboard it was COC sophomores Anthony Nilson and Ed Beehag coming in at 74 to tie with one other player in a three-way bid for eighth place.
Roy Chan (77) tied for 16th in the field and Arnaud Bouhaniche (78) tied for 18th, however, both had their scores dropped from the final COC team tally.
Canyons (64-2, 35-0) continues to lead the WSC team standings. Meanwhile, Nilson is the current leader of the season-long individual standings two strokes ahead of Struyf. The Cougars actually hold the first four spots in the standings with Bouhaniche and Beehag sitting third and fourth, respectively.
The season-long individual rankings will be used to determine an individual conference champion and a six-member All-WSC team.
The Cougars next compete Monday, April 6, at Rancho Vista Golf Course in the WSC event hosted by Antelope Valley College.
