Canyons Ends Season With Loss at L.A. Mission
The College of the Canyons soccer team finished up a strong season that saw the Cougars win 10 games, but still fall short off the postseason, after a tough 3-2 loss to L.A. Mission on Friday.
Canyons finishes the season in third place in the Western State Conference (WSC) South standings with a record of 8-3-6 against its conference rivals. Overall the Cougars were 10-4-6 on the year.
In Friday's match vs. L.A. Mission, the Cougars quickly found themselves down 3-0 after a flurry of goals by the Eagles.
It would not be until the 32nd minute that Canyons finally got on the scoreboard with a goal by freshman defender Garrett McPheeters, assisted by Chris Tumasone.
Canyons trailed 3-1 heading into the second half, but refused to quit.
Three minutes after play resumed McPheeters netted a second goal, this time unassisted, to keep the Cougars in contention.
However, Canyons could not muster any more scoring opportunities, and were eventually defeated 3-2 by the second-place WSC South team.
