Cougars Compete at Moorpark College Season Opener

MOORPARK — College of the Canyons started the 2026 track & field season with a limited run at the annual Moorpark College Multis and Season Opener meet held Feb. 6-7.
Canyons entered just three participants into day two events with each posting top-five results.
COC sophomore Antonio Moore clocked a time of 8.61 to place first in the 60m hurdles event.
Moore is the defending Western State Conference (WSC) champion in both the 110h and 400h versions of the event. The Golden Valley High School grad also finished runner-up at the 2025 3C2A State Championships in the 110h.
On the women's side it was fellow two-time defending WSC champion (110h/400h) sophomore Monique Fulling placing third in the 60m hurdles at 9.36.
Canyons freshman Ruby Salazar ran a time of 8:50.88 to place fifth at the 2K Steeplechase event. Salazar was an All-WSC Honorable Mention selection during the 2025 cross country season.
The Cougars are back in action Friday, Feb. 13, at the annual Battle of the Regions meet hosted by Bakersfield College. Events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
