The COC Girls Soccer Camp offers a high-caliber curriculum that will create a uniquely fun learning environment for players looking to build and improve their soccer skills.
Open to boys and girls in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade, the eight-week academy will be led by coaches and players from the COC men’s and women’s soccer programs. Sessions will be held on Thursday nights at the COC Soccer Facility.
Phipps follows in the footsteps of former COC student-athlete Mari Kneisel who was named WSC, South Division Player of the Year in both 2014 and 2015.
The Lady Cougars and Vaqueros (12-6-1, 6-3-1) will square off at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the new COC soccer facility.
Prior to this season the Lady Cougars competed in the WSC, South Division, winning conference titles in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 — all under head coach Justin Lundin.
The five honorees from College of the Canyons are the most from any community college in the state.
The Lady Cougars have not allowed a goal since Sept. 27, having outscored its opponents 20-0 during that stretch.
COC freshman defender Hailey Phipps scored the first goal on the new playing surface with her penalty kick in the 20th minute.
Canyons (6-3-1) used the offensive output to get back in the win column after dropping a 2-1 match to Santa Barbara earlier in the week.
Hailey Phipps, Jackie Mendez and Sigany Brice each scored goals for the Cougars.
COC sophomore forward Amanda Balzer scored in the 18th minute to put Cougars ahead.
COC head coach Justin Lundin picks up his 100th career victory and is now 100-28-6 since the start of 2009 season, having won five straight WSC, South championships.
The Cougars received goals from Angel Quintero and Sigany Brice.

The Cougars won six conference championships in 2015-16, with women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s basketball, softball, men’s cross country and men’s golf all bringing home WSC titles.
