Canyons Gets 3-1 Conference Road Win at Glendale

GLENDALE — College of the Canyons won its second match in as many outings, taking a 3-1 conference road victory over host Glendale College on Wednesday. Set scores were 25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 25-14.
Canyons (4-10, 2-0) remains unbeaten vs. Western State Conference (WSC), South Division opponents. The victory was the first road win of the season for the Cougars.
COC jumped out with a dominating 25-13 win in the opener and followed suite in the next set. Glendale (2-11, 0-2) managed to take a close third set but was not able to overcome the early 2-0 deficit.
Madison Andrews led the squad with nine kills, as Rylee Booth, Landon Poirier and Katelyn Nelson all finished with eight kills on a night the Cougars hit .304 as a team. Adrianna Pakes and Amey Nono both chipped in with four kills in the match.
Nono and Jazmine Muñoz both finished with four aces to tie for the team lead. Booth was also effective from the line with a pair of aces.
Canyons saw three players reach double-digit dig totals, led by 17 from Cami Colley. Nono ended the night with 16 and Morgan Dumlao finished with 13. Dumlao also led with 23 assists across the four sets.
The Cougars will look to keep that momentum with a trip to Bakersfield College on Friday, Oct. 3. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
